My friend and I had the day off and decided that we wanted to go a little road trip and get some lunch. Given the nice weather, we decided that good old Ayrshire was the destination. I had already done the Troon jaunt in recent weeks, so we decided that Largs was the one! We stopped off at a little cafe on the main street, next to the ferry terminal called The Bean & Leaf and had a lovely lunch!
My friends and I are pensioners before our time. Our main loves in life are soup, sandwiches and fish ‘n’ chips. Not that there is anything wrong with that, in fact there is nothing wrong with it!
Sundried Tomato & Mozzarella Bruschetta
I expected ordinary bruschetta with some mozzarella chucked on – I didn’t set my expectations low, but I wasn’t expecting to love my food this much. This was a taste sensation. Gorgeous garlic and herby bread with pungent sundried tomatoes and mozzarella melted on top. It was absolutely heavenly.
I do love fish ‘n’ chips, whether it’s cafe style, posh or out the chippy. That said, unless it’s the posh artistic kind, I can’t really say too much about its!
My love. I was served an epic portion of fresh mussels in a beautiful sauce.
Not as good as my dads, but pretty damn good!
After lunch we popped over to the famous Nardini’s for some ice cream to take with us on our walk along the beach.
I opted for banana and coconut ice cream. There were so many amazing options but I settled for my good old familiar delights.
We sat and ate our ice cream and saw the sun beginning to set. From this picture you can see it’s beautiful but nothing overly dramatic. What happened to the sky between Greenock and Glasgow was absolutely astounding, so we pulled over near Langbank to take photos. This was a result of the blood moon we had. Absolutely amazing!
Sunsets are my favourite. You can see all my sunset (amongst other) spam on my Instagram account!
